When I was little I liked going to church every morning. I was about two or three years old when me and my mom used to go to church.Churches have a tradition as well, girls and women had to wear skirts and dresses, while the men wear suites. At that age I didn't mind wearing dresses I was a kid so it didn't really bother me. When I started hitting my pre-teen stage I was more of a tomboy I wanted to wear pants more then skirts and dresses. They have this saying when you go to church "come as you are" but the tradition is still there for women and girls to wear skirts. Me as a tomboy i got tired of wearing skirts and dresses all year round. If the saying is come as you are why can't women wear pants to church?. Thats what I never really understood I'm a Christian I like to wear pants. It gets cold outside I'm not coming to church wearing tights and skirt knowing that it freezing out. It doesn't hurt to wear pants to church. So i broke out of the tradition who wants to keep wearing skirts and dresses just for a morning church service. But me and my mom no longer go to church, because she got caught up in her financial situation so we just stop going to church. Now we only go to church to help out with the brotherhood breakfast we cook and pre-pare the breakfast as the church service is going on upstairs. I broke out of the tradition because it wasn't my style i want to be comfortable when i go to church not feel like I can be easily violated, and I don't like when the could air goes through my tights or when the wind blows my skirt even with shorts under them. Then once i stopped wearing skirts i notice all the women and little girls that i went to church with started wearing pant's instead of dresses and skirts. Because wearing pants doesn't be-little you as a christian its a religion tradition but it isn't mandatory to keep wearing skirts either. So ever since then all the women and girls started wearing pants to church services its not always about how you dress it the fact that you make an effort to come to church and still believe in him weather you go to church or not i don't go to church anymore because os school an work but i am a very spritrial person.

Jeanetta, I think that your story analysis could benefit from some more detailed examples of violence in America (such as a specific event). I can really relate to your personal narrative though, Church should be a place where all can feel welcome, and the fact that an item of clothing has the potential to make people question your faith doesn’t make sense. I’m glad you decided that who you are was more important that what other people might want you to be.

Jeanetta, That's awesome that you influenced the other people at your church to start wearing pants, if you wouldn't of been the first one to do so they would all probably still be wearing skirts/dresses.
