I do agree with Margret breaking the dishes why? Because if you think about it thats an insult especially if someone is working for you why have somebody work for you an not have respect for that person just because your a high authority doesnt mean you should just giv somebody a named that they wasnt born with and disrespect them like that but back then if black people would of stood up for what was right for them they get hung thats like going to work in modern day's and time and your boss calls you another name other then the name that you were born with its lack of respect for your employees and very offensive and can be very frustrating. When I was in elementary school I was in the first or second grade. It was the first day of school and just like most schools do they do a role call and you introduce yourself to class. So as the teacher was going around calling out students names she came across mine and as she pronouce my last name the some of the kids snickerd and burst out laughing because my last name is Duncan I didn't pay it no mind because it was the first day of school. Then the next day as I started to get to know my classmates i notice nobody adress me by my first name they just kept calling me Dunkin Doughnuts and kept teasing me it was mostly the boys that teased me more then the girls this one boy named Dwayne always picked on me about my last name in fact he was the only boy that teased me the most and then the class started mimicing him one day I was in art class coloring and cutting up paper and Dwayne walks up to my table smacks all my papers on of the table and he said "I smacked all your papers on the floor what are you going to do about it Dunkin Doughnuts?" So I stood up and shouted out "my name is not dunkin doughnuts its Jeanetta!" an i picked up my papers an sat back down at my table the whole classroom was so silent the only thing you can hear is the air conditioner running even the teacher was shocked that I snapped like that because i was always quiet ever since that day all the students called me by my first name.

Jeanetta, I like your personal narrative a lot. As you've read mine, you know that I can relate! I'm glad that you stood up for yourself, though. One thing that I do wish is that your first response was arranged slightly differently for better legibility, but that's probably a person preference.

I would like to echo Sara's comments about the first response probably benefiting from punctuation and a bit more elaboration on the claims you're making. I also enjoyed your narrative. I see direct connections between Margaret's story and your story, albeit Margaret probably had a little bit more at stake with her resistance. Still, I found it interesting to see the way you explored the impact of people changing her name without your consent.

I really liked how the narrative portion of your blog post was so similar to what happened in the story. I can kind of relate to you and Margaret when it comes to people messing up/ changing my name. Every now and then someone spells my name "Jessie" instead of "Jesse" and when I was younger it bothered me a lot and I reacted harshly, but I've now realized It's just a mistake and they didn't mean for it to offend me.

Thanks Jesse I mean its ok to joke around with the name calling but when people constantly do it everyday it can get a tad bit annoying.

Jeanetta, I liked how you stood up for yourself. Sometimes that's the way some people will understand that that's not how you treat people, unfortunately.

I am so sorry that kids were teasing you for your last name. Kids can be such bullies, I was bullied bad when I was younger too.
